subject: Homelessness and the Final Solution

Kia ora Suzie & Guyon,

I’ve been hearing some of your listeners making comments that the homeless should not have children.

In effect, what they are doing is blaming the poorest in society for their predicament. Really? When did the poor ever decide economic policy in this country?

What those correspondents are saying is only the well-off should have children.

The only question that remains to be answered is what do working families do when they are made redundant and end up in garages or cars with their children – what method do your correspondents advocate to euthenase those children?

Because that is what they’re advocating; a Final Solution for the Poor.

– Frank Macskasy

I believe the term you’re looking for, Frank, is Class Eugenics.

It’s the Final Solution to the embarrasing reality of growing poverty in this country. Except replace gas chambers and ovens with forced contraception (or risk losing your benefit) and garages.

Agreed, ALH. That’s the impression I glean from some of the moralistic pricks who condemn the poor for daring to have children.

Since when was the right to have children based on one’s income?

And isn’t the problem that incomes aren’t keeping up with accomodation costs?

When I was a kid, our family survived very well on my dad’s sole income, while mum looked after me and my four brothers and sisters. He had a modest job and modest income, but we always had enough to live on.

Now it takes two incomes and several jobs and even that doesn’t seem to be enough.

Blaming the parents only avoids the real problems we are facing in society. Primarily that wealth is trickling upward, and the mid and low income earners are struggling to make ends meet.

Better not mention “Final Solution” to the Nats, Frank. It’ll give them ideas.
