Letter to the editor – Donald Trump and the lessons of history

I don’t know know if Donald Trump really believes the things he says, or is simply saying them to get elected.

But what kind of person appeals to the most base instincts of human beings to achieve power?

And once he has achieved that power – what will he do with it?

Unfortunately, the previous century  is replete with examples of  demagogues who wreaked havoc once they gained the power they craved.

Just how many times do the violent lessons of history have to be drilled into us?

I suspect he does believe them Frank. But that belief is based on my suspicion that he is appealing to the lowest common denominator of those on the far right in the US that is more likely to give them his vote.

He’s fishing hard, but he’s not going to be elected based on recent history. Who else was duped into voting for Obama simply because they didn’t want Mitt Romney near the White House? It’s not as if anybody will want Jeb Bush there anyhow.

Personally, I hope Bernie Sanders makes it, because I really, REALLY (really really) don’t want Hilary Clinton to get the Democratic nomination. That would spell doom for America no matter how you looked at it then.

Indeed, Michael. As such, the Big Question is, will mainstream America vote for a demagogue like him? Or will they flock to the ballot booths to vote ABCD – Anyway But Crazy Donald?

Donald Dump. Bill Clinton, George Dubiyah Bush Jr … what do they all have in common? A brain cell.

Takere – that would be the same brain cell, shared around? 😀
