TV3 journo shows his true colours?

Patrick Gower and Nick Smith

From an interview in the NZ Herald,

4. How often do you drink with politicians?

Hardly ever. I think those days of journos drinking with the politicians are long gone. Either that or the politicians don’t want a bar of me – so it’s probably a bit of both actually…

Really, Patrick? You look very chummy with National MP, Nick Smith. Is that you “keeping a professional distance” from politicians?

Which may explain Gower’s botched attempt to interview Labour leader David Cunliffe on The Nation on 1/2 March.

Gower may need to excuse himself from further political interviews with Party leaders as his impartiality is now in severe question.

So we’re at close to half a dozen news-related broadcasters who’ve thrown the hat in to be Labour MPs in the last decade and suddenly when a journo has a drink with Nick Smith you see something wrong with it. Way to ignore the more significant reality and track-record of goings-on in this regards.

Bob202 – That is precisely the problem; that the MSM choose to ignore a possible case of partisanship by Gower – yet Shane Taurima was headline news for over a week.

It’s outrageous that you choose to brandish your critical ‘stick’ at “half a dozen news-related broadcasters who’ve thrown the hat in to be Labour MPs in the last decade” – but you won’t countenance questioning when another journo seems uncomfortably close to National.

By the way, Maggie Barry is not a Labour MP.

There are way too many main stream media that are definitely NOT impartial. I saw one of the Female presenters laugh when she mentioned something about the Greens who are pretty up with things I think and are more than capable of running our country now with their experience. OK Colin Craig, yes a few smirks, that is to be expected, but smirks about everybody else apart from NACT is just plain favoritism and unacceptable in main stream media.

Three News in general and Tober O’Brien (sp?) in particular are the worst.

Doesnt matter which “side” of the political spectrum you sit on, or which network the journo belongs to, its all frigging corrupt. The moronic electorate in this country has let it happen and will continue to let it happen. Its a sham.
