Organised Crime profits under threat by new law?

Cannabis now legal in Colorado

Legalised possession of marijuana?! Shock! Horror! Moral outrage and hairy-chest-beating!!!

According to Bloomberg Businessweek, organised crime makes anywhere from U$45 billion to US$110 billion per annum on selling weed. This will impact heavily on Organised Crime revenue.

No doubt, the Mafia, Chinese Tongs, Yakuza, S.P.E.C.T.R.E, et al, will support moralists who demand that marijuana be criminalised and banned again.

After all, how will decent (*cough!*), hard-working (*rolls eyes*), crims be able to earn a crust if their products are legalised willy-nilly, without a thought for their economic well-being?! Do Colorado law-makers know how expensive it is to buy and maintain the latest pimp-mobile? And those Enforcers  don’t come cheap when you’re making war on other drug-gangs or collecting drug-debts!

If this keeps up, organised crime will suffer financially and lose profits.

And we can’t have that now, can we?

(Note: considerable quantities of irony and sarcasm were used to write this blogpost.)

We need to do this here. The Legal Highs experiment has been a failure & the money to be made from commercial hemp is potentially billions, & dont get me started on Medical Marijuana’s benefits …..
The sooner we start the process of legalization, the better….

Yeah, it’s like when the govt was pushing compulsory drug testing for beneficiaries on the grounds that they were all spending their(/the tax payers) money on dope & booze while starving their kids (& exposing them to all those criminal elements). So the solution…. spend yet more tax payer money on compulsory drug testing and get those stoner single mums! Ummmmm…. elephant in the room guys… how about. Legalise marijuana. Anyone who wants to can grow a couple of plants in their back yard. No need to spend anything to buy it, whatever your income source, and no need for any criminal element. Problem solved.

When will politicians ever learn, prohibition doesn’t work. It didn’t work in Al Capone’s prohibition era and it’s not working now! The only ones it’s working for are organised criominal gangs and they’re making vast profits in this illicit trade.

It’s almost like prohibition was designed specifically with profit-making by organised crime in mind.
