Al Nisbet’s next little ‘gem’…

Al Nisbet, cartoonist and panderer to  racist rednecks, presents us with these little ‘gems’…

.

290513 The Marlborough Express Al Nisbet cartoon

.

And this…

.

Al Nisbet's racist cartoon (2)

.

Well, I guess if we, as a nation, are so fucking pathetic that we can’t address child poverty without a sizeable portion of the population begrudging a bowl of weetbix and milk for the children of the poorest families in the country (because, as we all know, every child has a choice which family they were born into) – well, we might as well poke fun at them.

Nice one, Al.

I’m looking forward to your next cartoon about religion and kids. You know the one. Where a priest is raping a child and you’re making a really witty and “satirical” comment about it.

Ho ho ho…

Funny as, dude.

And screw all those leftie whingers eh? They should just LIGHTEN THE FUCK UP, eh?

Hah! Who sez you can’t laugh about child poverty.

Also looking forward to your next cartoon about solo-mums. Maybe depicting them as lazy crack-whores milking the State?

I’m sure Paula Bennett will get the joke.

Now… what can we draw about cartoonists and their families?

I was almost as appalled by Barry Soper’s comments on twitter as I was by these ghastly cartoons.

Is this what is known as being a “good corporate ctizen”? Spreading racist bullshit? The editor of Marlborough Exopress and The Press should be ashamed of themselves.

For me the saddest thing about today (besides Devoy) is that there was debate. It was racist end of story.

    • 30 May 2013 at 10:45 pm

Indeed, Edmond. There seems to a a deep vein of hatred in our society by some, toward the poor…

Praying on the weak appeals to the most base of instincts. Key is a master of it.

His comment on the 6 news that he thought his job was to ‘provoke people into thinking’….. lol….. he’s got no idea has he…. friggin’ neanderthal…. if he started thinking it would hurt…

          • 30 May 2013 at 10:57 pm

“The most base instincts”… that sums it up very well, Edmond.

Hone – indeed. Reading comments on blogs, FB, Stuff website comments, etc, it doesn’t appear that much “thinking” is being done at all. A lot of bigotry being expressed – but not much thinking…

yet he made that comment with a straight face. I think he believes it, which makes him… well… yeah… at least a little slow.. 🙂

The fact that I have seen quite a few ‘well, that’s the truth’ comments in support of them makes me realize we are still a rather backward nation in some ways

    • 30 May 2013 at 11:04 pm

It’s hard not to make that conclusion as well, Wonk…

    Good point Wonk.

When a newspaper attracts support from vile little racist bigots, they really need to reassess their stance. Let’s see them publish a couple of rape cartoons, justifying rape from the perpetrator’s point of view. Of course they wouldn’t.

Because Nisbet’s shit is just over the borderline and anything further would see heads roll from ‘The Press’.

Free speech my ass. Bigotry comes at a cost.

  6. 30 May 2013 at 11:45 pm

With the ME cartoon, I was prepared to give Nisbet the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it was satirising the comments section of Stuff and Kiwiblog?
Then the Press cartoon came out. Today I’m ashamed to be a NZ cartoonist.

Nisbet says his cartoons are designed to generate debate. Debate on what? All I see are bigots emboldened to come out of the shadows and spread their bigotted views. Well done Nisbet. You’ve given free license for prejudiced views to be aired.

    That’s not debate.

Campbell Live poll on this subject had 70% of his audience saying they thought the cartoons were a true depiction of Maori and Polynesians…..never a fan of these phone in programme polls – definitely non scientific – I was still flabbegasted at the result. So what does that say about we Kiwis then ? Not nice, in fact bloody awful, embarrassing, shame on us. Stereotyping is an ugly commentary, next step bigotry and racism. Not only in race relations but solo mums get the same treatment…..which has me saying, where are the stats, the surveys from academia for starters. Many years ago a survey showed only .02% possibly fitted the negative narrative. Tried throwing darts at a world map as I scream I want out of this dumb place but keep getting hits on places like Turkmenistan. Sigh. 🙂

Mc clairy That was my thoughts as well It was a disgusting result that poll makes me ashamed to be a New Zealander.

I thought new zealanders stood for a fair go for all not the “F..K u im okay jack” attitude that seems to prevale>

This attitude is a direct result of the neo liberal reforms if you ask me it is nothing but dog eat dog world.

The fair socially oriented new zealander does not exist and been replaced by a stuff you if you are in the crap go sit there a bit longer i’m ok.

How the nats continue to keep their high position in the poles beats me when everyone but the 1% ters are being screwed everyday beats me.
