John Tamihere – Back to the F*****g Future

.

Tamihere blasts journalist ‘You stupid little girl’

.

Barely 48 hours back with the Labour Party and John Tamihere was playing the “Anti PC Tough Guy” again, on TV3…

On Paula Bennett,

Within hours of being allowed back into the Labour Party, John Tamihere was already shooting his mouth off, calling the Social Development Minister “that bloody fat girl”.

I have no great liking for Bennett – she is a hypocrite of the worst sort for having used the DPB and other WINZ entitlements to support herself when she was a solo-mum; to gain a free tertiary education; and buy a house, at tax-payer’s expense . All of which she has denied other solo-mums.

But what has her size got to do with things?

On homophobia,

I don’t have a problem with gay people,” says Mr Tamihere. “I have a problem with gay marriage.”

See: IBID

So why the problem, John? Don’t marry a gay fella. Easy. Sorted.

Mind you, your constant references to gays kinda makes one think… you seem awfully preoccupied with Homo Sexual Men. Anything you want to share with us?

On women and sexism,

When asked about sexism, he responded, “What is that? I’m a man, you’re a woman”.

See: IBID

Oh for god’s sakes…

On female journalists,

“Tova, go jump in the lake you stupid little girl,” he said.

“I’ve had a gut’s full of idiots like you trying to position people like me.

“Pimply little girls in a newsroom trying to position you for being cut up on a little news bite. Tova O’Brien, where the hell do you come from?”

The sad thing is that John Tamihere is an intelligent, experienced political figure and media operator. He’s not some redneck from the backblocks whose parents also happen to be brother and sister.

He proved his skills by  hosting on TV3′s  “Think Tank”,  making that current affairs ‘chat show’ must-see television.

So why the ignorant outbursts?

Why waste energy on offensive remarks against women, gays, etc?

His outbursts may satisfy a certain sector of society – a sector that probably gets it’s “information” from the inanities of Talkback Radio. But does his redneckery add anything to our understanduing of issues?

He certainly did not behave like this on “Think Tank”.

Time to grow up, John. We need your skills as a mature man – not a self-indulgent adolescent.

We don’t need a brown version of Paul Henry.  One is enough.

Tamihere is wrong when he calls Pullah Benefit fat, she is actually morbidly obese! It’s great to have him back. Watch the polls now for Labour…they’ll rise a little…the working class will come back & the PC’ers & rainbow brigade can run for cover or hi-jack another party!

…and all the right-wing polls this morning have given Labour 1.5% – 2.5%! The working class labour voters are coming back ….. is that because Cunliffes on his way out the door while JT’s coming in? I think so.

If you’ll check the polls – especially my blogposts and analysis – I think you’ll find, Jasper, that National has been consistently trending downward, and the Labour/Green block has been trending upward. Nearly all polling has reflected a pre-Tamihere situation.

I take it you’re not a JT supporter Frank? Cunliffe I take it?

Nah, I rarely support personalities, Jasper. I’m more of a policies-oriented poli. In reality, though, it’s probably a mix of the two.

I think JT has his strengths and I’m happy he’s back with the Labour Party. But I think he has to realise he’s no longer just a Talkback Host and the ‘enemy’ is the government – that’s who he needs to focus on.

I’d like to see him given a “meaty” role, and then turn him loose on the Nats…

He has taken Pullah Benefit to task already …. and not talking about her been fat, he’s wanting to take the Waitakere seat back that Labour should never of lost Frank. Sepeloni should never of lost it in the first place….just lazy Labour complacency relying on the history of it been a Labour strong hold. He’s not attacking anybody that doesn’t deserve it, Nania M. you wouldn’t know she’s the education spokesperson? Cunliffe’s been dealt to by the leader and that’s about it. None of what he’s said is unwarranted if Labour wants to get out of the dole drums and into government. I must admit, I’m a PC’er, just pragmatic.

I concur with your assessment about Nania Mahuta. Labour needs a far stronger Education spokesperson in this field. God knows Hekia Parata’s mis-management of the education portfolio leaves National wide open to (justified) criticism.

We need a stronger alternative MP giving a voice to communities affected by National’s bizarre policies.

As for Carmel Sepuloni in Waitakere, it seems that since 1993 the electorate regularly swings between National and Labour… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waitakere_%28New_Zealand_electorate%29

My best guess is that it will go Labour in 2014, regardless of whether the Labour candidate is Sepuloni or Tamihere…

By the way; this “Pundit Blog Poll of Polls” shows the gradual decline of National and the rise of the Left Bloc; http://www.pundit.co.nz/content/poll-of-polls/
