Nick Smith
.
.
Whether or not Nick Smith “returns” to a Ministerial post is, in my mind, a distraction.
1. With ministers like corrupt liar, John Banks, in cabinet, Nick Smith could be viewed as a “breath of fresh air”.
2. This entire government is rotten to the core and is driving this country backward with short-term, ineffectual, rightwing policies. “Boot camps”, anyone?
3. After four years, are we any better off?

Nick Smith was a dreadful environment minister, pushing back the date where air pollution above the PM10 particulates concentration of 50ug/m3 has to be dealt with by local councils to 2016 condemning hundreds of extra kiwis to death in the interim whilst we do nothing.
i.e. just another gutless politician who has achieved nothing, conveniently ignoring the science of the toxicity of woodsmoke.
He should stay out of cabinet, government and parliament.
Fair point, Matthew.
And you’ve reminded me to post links to National’s environmental record,
* Johnny’s Report Card – National Standards Assessment y/e 2012 – environment
* As predicted: National abandons climate-change responsibilities
* National ditches environmental policies
Smith is a professional politician. He won’t leave until his Party grants him some tidy sinecure somewhere…
His kind of inaction is costing his electorate $100,000,000.00 a year. And killing 29 people prematurely.
http://www.stuff.co.nz/nelson-mail/news/7408420/Deadly-effects-of-pollution
Although the comments is full of ignorami who are denying the toxicity of the smoke. There’ll be a lot more dead bodies before all the thick people get it.
Just another example of how low our standards have dropped, and what appalling corrupt representatives we are willing to accept.
That’s just typical of Keys!!!! He does what ever he likes…Shame on him and Nick Smith!!!!
personally i am more concerned about the news that Shane Jones might be back into the Labour caucus…. wtf is that shit
Good point, Frank. play policy, not the man. They could put krusty the clown on the throne, policy would be the same.
+1
Ho hum. Care factor zero. They’re all the same.
