Paula Bennett – massive *facepalm*
.
.
As Bennett laments,
“People buy 10 cooked chickens and then go and sell them in the carpark.
I can’t stop what individuals do. All I can do is try and put the right security around it.”
And no one – not one person in Bennett’s office; the Ministry of Social Development; or WINZ – guessed that this might happen?!?!
Such a system was bound to be easily circumvented, and once again National has wasted millions of our tax-dollars on a pointless exercise, rather than getting to the nub of the problem: job creation.
Where are the jobs, Mr Key, Ms Bennett, et al?
Idiots.

Where there is a will there is a way…
They must get a bonus for gormlessness…
Well DUH!
I predicted this would happen on Topical.co.nz
Clueless right wing governments
“However the minister says she’s been assured by Work and Income that having a verified signature to access the funds is best practice.”
Yep WINZ are really expert at security
“Mrs Bennett says the cards are as secure as a credit card, but she is expecting a full briefing from Work and Income, this week.”
Now Mrs Bennet is an expert on security too.
Ministry of Social Destruction.
And the irony here, DV, is that this is simply human ingenuity at work here; give people an asset; impose restrictions; and watch the inevitable. Rats and mice work their way through a maze – humans tend to try to climb over the walls to get out of said maze.
Hell, it’s practically what rugged, unfettered capitalism is based on…
QED.
Or go through them. Humans do not like being corralled.
Silly chook
Well that’s entrepenurial good on them!
Forrest Gump is running the country.
”Running the country like Forrest Gump” oh goodness at least the guy had more heart mick!… how about more like Bush, JKs considers himself a untouchable dictator, n Bennett is another wannaby (shipley follower in drag) Lol the Laurel n hardy of nz politics ahahahaaa, just laughing at Bennetts ideas of Youth payment card, these young ones buying 10 chooks to sell to make more money! brilliant entrepenuers in the making starting at a young age, our young are not dumb after all, quite hilarious if you ask me, both key n bennett are incompetant, n don’t know how to run a country thats what it boils down to.
I hope they are getting a discount for buying in bulk so they make a good profit.
I wonder if anyone has used a payment card to pay for sex or drugs brought directly from the supplier by trading the card. Love to hear your stories.
S Beast – Nah. That would apply only to politicians, who seem to rort the system with impunity.
Let’s recall how Bill English was rorting the system, at tax payers’ expense, to pay for his house in Wellington…
“English paid $1000 to live in own home”
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/politics/news/article.cfm?c_id=280&objectid=10588023&ref=rss
This kinda stuff was predicted by all kinds of people at the time of implementation but National are so into looking tough by making the lives of the poorest of the poor a misery that they left their brains at the door.
If you look at who benefits from all this (the bankers) then it’s just more tax payer dosh going on corporate welfare (actually foreign corporates who are making record) at the expense of New Zealanders who find themselves at the bottom of the heap.
