National – the Party of free speech?! Yeah, right.
.
.
Around 8pm on 13 September, this blogger posted on National’s Facebook page – see: NZNATS. I left a message leaving links to two of my recent blogposts,
- National ramps up attack on unemployed and solo-mums
- National ramps up attack on unemployed and solo-mums (part rua)
They must not’ve like the message nor my questions. The post I made vanished within minutes. No explanation offered by the operators of that FB page.
I left a comment querying the disappearance of my posting,
.
.
That was gone under sixty seconds,
.
.
One more try.
This post referred to National party policies regarding unemployed, solo-mums, and other beneficiaries. A pertinent topic worthy of debate, I thought?
.
.
The result? Another disappearance,
.
.
It seems that National is not a Party that brooks dissent or welcomes questioning of it’s policies. This is symptomatic of a Party that has lost trust in the public and fears people.
The term for this state of affairs, I believe, is a seige mentality.

Neither National nor John Banks ( Same thing) want to hear criticism or answer questions. Their idea of consultation is much as Parata inferred on Campbell Live tonight re the school closures or amalgamations just as they did on Asset sales..they will consult with communities, hear objections and then do EXACTLY what they wish because of their one man ‘mandate’..
Webpages and walls are only for cheerleaders & groupies.
I use facebook a lot and have problems with it so it might not be censorship but I will try posting something similar and see what they do. Should be interesting.
They didn’t censor you as such: I looked through the page and it looks as if they only allow MPs and authorised party officials to start a post. So they would’ve deleted your post even if you prostrated yourself in front of them and hailed John Key as the Great Helmsman.
Interesting; and yet their page accepted my posting?!
“Great Helmsman”? I’ve only just gotten used to calling him Dear Leader…
You engage in exactly the same dort of thing on this site Frank. How do you explain this?
Gosman, I need explain nothing to you. You were declared persona non grata because of personalised comments you made; a couple of lies you posted; and worst of all, sunshine – you bored the f**k out of me.
You got a stalker there, Frank?
Democracy in New Zealand will be dead unless people are prepared to hit the streets this summer. I am not advocating revolution, but I am advocating seriously heavy use of our right to peaceful assembly, as per the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
What do we want?
Democracy
When do we want it?
NOW!
